Hey..so..new here and here to maybe put my mind at ease..and or get a second opinion..
Anyway. My Ivan is a 3 year old buff tabby. fully vaccinated. neutered. negative for FIV..Leukemia..all that jazz. And he is strictly indoors. This morning he was throwing up.. a LOT. At first it was just his food. Then it was bile. Then all of the sudden it turned to blood. I freaked out completely and immediately took him to the vet. After of course seeing which one had the best ratings.. lol. Anyway. There was nothing else wrong until that moment. He eats, plays, drinks, and used the potty normally. Even after all this today. The vet told me the blood was most likely from the continuous vomiting. That its actually quite common for a cat to vomit blood if its been about back to back for a while because it strains their stomach an throat. Also he had a bit of a respiratory infection which contributed. The vet then asked if I just wanted the antibiotics or if I wanted him to run a full blood panel. Me being the obsessive loving cat mommy I am I asked for the full blood panel. (he said it eliminated all possibilities) His test results came back absolutely beautiful. The only thing was a slight spike in liver enzymes which is a good possibility for the nausea and asked what I fed him. I give him purina naturals and he told me most of those dry foods at walmart and what not contain chicken, and chicken is a very hyperallergenic protein/meat for cats and that can explain the spike in his liver enzymes if he had that food allergy and to move him to a food that has one of the three hypoallergenic meats (duck, venison, and rabbit) so I got him call of the wild wet and dry food, to see which helped his tummy more and which he liked more. (a flippin $60 purchase lol) but with everything he said Ivan was and looked completely healthy. However I feel like he is not fine..and Im totally terrified my baby is really really sick. Like I said everything is normal and as he typed this he is mowing down his call of the wild rabbit dry food. But does the vets diagnosis sound remotely accurate...or do you think he'll be okay? I dunno Im a complete nervous wreck and my little boy is everything to me..he was given antibiotics and milk thistle for his liver.
