Hi all,
I wanted to post a little annotated photo album of my favorite pictures. I’m sure my friends are tired of me sending them pictures all the time so I thought my fellow cat nerds would appreciate :) I also wanted to invite you guys to do the same. Tell me your adoption stories!!!

...Once upon a time, having never been a cat guardian before, I adopted a little kitty.

She was around 4 years old and pretty shy. But she seemed to be happy to be my new friend...

Yes - Welcome to TCS!

I've always loved cats, and when a work friend's friend offered us little Cinnamon, there was no way I could say no.

She made herself at home. I willingly let grudgingly allowed her to use my things.

The whole family loves her.

She is the best free thing to happen to me... ever!
Look at that nose!!! So sweet :)

I absolutely loved your story and how you adopted two beautiful girls. :greenpaw::bluepaw: I'd love to tell my stories but I've adopted so many cats over so many years that I wouldn't know where to begin. Don't worry about boring your friends with your cat pics because we can't get enough of them at TCS.

She is soo sweet love your cat your profile pic with the cat next to you is that the same as the one on 4 years old you adopted? Just of curiosity why was it up for adoption how has its previous live been like?
What made you decide to adopt a cat instead of a dog or any other animals?

Also what about the other kitten?
Whats their names?

It is! The original photo/selfie looks like this: 0D8011CA-B1AE-436F-AE17-B1F377A3B7A0.jpeg

I don’t know much about her life before. All I know is that her former owner was hospitalized and never came home. Based on the limited information the shelter had, I’m guessing the owner didn’t survive :( the shelter thought my kitty was two, but a later vet visit revealed she was a bit older.

My parents have dogs and their standards for pet guardianship are VERY high. They take their dogs to the park twice a day, socialize them plenty, and basically revolve their schedule around the dogs. I think that’s great. I love animals, and I wanted a furry friend but I also knew I couldn’t devote as much attention as a dog would ideally get, at this point in my life. So I looked around for an adult cat. I didn’t want to adopt a kitten because I knew a kitten would be less self-reliant and would need more from me to be happy. I thought I could give an already aloof full grown cat a good, comfortable home. So I adopted little Sauce (see above) :):) and I fell in love.

Even though she’s still shy with strangers, she proved to enjoy interaction a lot more than I expected. 6 months from the day I brought her home passed and I felt bad not being able to give her more attention. I wanted her to have all the love and interaction she wanted and I read that introducing a kitten would be a much safer bet than introducing another full grown cat. I was nervous is wasn’t going to work out but I took a chance and brought home Fievel :) the friendship has been a a little slow-growing and cautious. But I think it’s going to be good :):):)

I am glad to hear that :) I lost my cat unfortunately but I hope to get a new one soon or my old one comes back :) I made a thread about it where I told the entire story.

In January of 2014 I went to the shelter in my mom's town with her, to which routinely makes cat food donations. At this point I had been throwing around the idea of getting a cat for a while. It was my first year teaching, and first year living on my own. A few weeks earlier I had fallen in love with a kitten at my towns shelter, only going after work to adopt it and it having been adopted earlier that day.

I really wanted a kitten, but when I walked into that shelter with my mom, I fell in love with a beautiful marbled tabby with white paws and beard that was around a year old. She purred so loudly when I held her. She had been abandoned at the shelter just before Christmas and was actually past the shelters 3 week limit before euthanasia :( The guy working said his boss was on vacation and he was holding off hoping someone would adopt her because she was so sweet. I brought her home that very day for a mere 12 dollars and named her Zoey.

The day I brought Zoey home

Zoey's first night went so well and she even hopped in my bed that night. But the following few days wouldn't go so well. Her eyelids swelled up shut, so she got an early trip to the vet to discover that she had somehow scratched her cornea. In order to stop her from scratching her eyeball out (she tried) she would be confined to a cone for the next month or so, with medicine on her eyeball. I was only able to take her cone off when I could watch her closely. Luckily, that winter was bad and I had lots of snowdays off school in that first month with her.

After the cone came off, Zoey was super active, and no matter how much I tried to tire her out, she wouldn't let me sleep at night, so with the help of this site I began toying with the idea of a second cat. I was keeping an eye on local shelters when my mom's bf said that a woman he knew from high school had kittens and might just release them in the country if she couldn't get rid of them all.

March 2014-At this point the kittens were just over 4 months old. I went with the intention of taking home a dilute tortie, but there I fell in love with a tiny black female. She would have several names over the next month (Maya, Izzy, Maci) but she would become my sweet little Luna.

My first day with Luna

Zoey was not a fan of Luna, and it was probably the worst cat introduction I ever had. However, 3 weeks later I had cuddlers.

So for the next 3.5 years it was me and my girls. Flash forward to August 2017 when a facebook friend of mine posted a picture of a large litter of yellow kittens. I casually asked if either of the cream ones was female (I had always loved cream cats) and she never responded.

About a month later she messaged me letting me know that my cream kitten was ready whenever I was and that she thought it was female. They had found homes for many and had saved me a cream kitten. I was about to message back that I wasn't sure I was able to take on another cat, but I just felt called not to. I was super apprehensive about not knowing this kitten's personality, but it also just felt right. 3 days later- Oct 7, 2017 she dropped off the sweetest cream kitten who I immediately named Penny.

Penny's first day with us.

3 cats in. I think I've reached my limit, but I can't imagine not having any of my girls. I love them to death.

I thought I would also add my favorite picture of each of them.

Awww, your story made me tear up. You did such an amazing thing for Zoey- you saved her life!! It so sad to think the world almost missed out on having a super sweet kitty in it :( and Luna too! I heard black cats are often the last to get adopted so it’s heart warming to know she was one of the lucky ones who got a great Home! And Penny’s a little babe. Your girls are gorgeous :) yay! Thank you for sharing.
