When I was growing up, we had a cottage in northern Michigan. We used to go morel hunting every spring. If you find a place where they grow in the wild, you protect it, and keep it secret...you take that location with you to the grave, lol! They were SO yummy, breaded and pan fried in butter! Up in Traverse City area, morel mushrooms are $30+ a pound!!! The price varies, depending on the growing season...whether or not there's enough rain, or it's warm enough to grow very many. There's really no mistaking a morel mushroom. I've never seen anything else that looks like a real morel.

Sounds like fun, but I'm too chicken to try it cause I'm not an expert on poisoneous vs non-poisoneous when it comes to mushrooms. I love them but will buy them in the grocery store
