That was my cat last night. Sho sat on my dresser screaming for all his worth at me while I tried to sleep. At first, I thought he was yelling at a stray on the other side of the window. But when I finally opened my eyes to look, he was staring at me from the top of the dresser. For a while, I couldn't figure out what he was trying to say. Finally, I understood. He wanted off from the FRONT of the dresser by jumping onto my bed. For some odd reason, he didn't want to get down from the window like he usually does.
But the problem was he feels when the bed's covered with a blanket and human's sleeping in it, it's off-limits, so he was yowling at me for permission to jump on.
I sighed and scooted over, pulling the blankets with me for warmth and patted on the bare sheets. He immediately jumped off the dresser and onto my bed, then just as fast leaped over me and my blankets and onto 'his bed' (it's really my sister's bed, but she's not here so he took over).
Even later into the night, he felt he needed permission again and woke me up with his yowling--again.
What's funny is, he doesn't think the bed itself is off-limits, but the blankets on top of it. When I'm sleeping, he'll sometimes walk onto my pillow, the bed frame, the bare sheets, but he never ever touches the blanket. If the blanket is in the way, he'll walk around it or jump over it. It's only when I pat on the blankets that he thinks it's okay for him to be on it. In the mornings, he'll stare at me and purr from 'his bed' waiting for me to pat the blankets on top of me so he can climb onto my blanketed chest and lay down for some cuddling.
Isn't that weird? What kind of cat feels he needs permission to do anything? Anyone else have similar experiences?
