Tonight I am draining my water bed in preparation of getting a new box spring and mattress style bed. I've had a water bed since 1980 and can count on both hands the number of times since then that I've slept on a regular bed.
Getting rid of my water bed is a huge change in my life, one I never thought I'd see myself make because I absolutely love my water bed!
This change got me thinking back over the last year of my life. I've made some pretty significant changes.
1. I managed to get back to work in a back to work program September 2008 and back on the payroll by December 3, 2008.
2. I took a job in an area of nursing that I've never really enjoyed (Women's Health), and to my surprise found that I liked it.
3. I recently quit my job at a hospital that I've been at for more than 15 years and have taken an entirely new type of nursing job at a different hospital.
4. And now I'm getting rid of my water bed.
These are all very significant changes to me: Changes that would have had me anxiety striken a decade ago. I don't typically like change and I'm known as a creature of habit. These changes have all pushed me beyond my comfort zone. But that's a good thing! Sometimes change is a good thing!
Anyone else finding themselves making voluntary changes in their lives that has pushed them beyond their comfort zone, only for you to find that it was a good thing?
