on sunday my kitten managed to come into contact with lily pollen. after speaking to an emergency vet and following their instructions he exhibited no symptoms. We took him to the vet on monday and found the pollen had given him mouth ulcers. he had painkillers and an antibiotic at the vet and we were told to monitor him with feeding and things. he was really lethargic and was excreted a lot of mucus but we had expected this.
yesterday and today he has really perked up and is eating brilliantly and playing lots too. At dinner time he was mucusy again so i wiped his mouth and found brown spots. I'v looked at his tongue and the ulcers have nearly gone but his mouth is still red and his tongue is bleeding slightly. i rang my vet and told them that his tongue is bleeding but he has been chattering his teeth so they told me that he's probably bit his tongue trying to pop the ulcers. we are feeding him only wet food and ice chips which seem to be helping but wondered if any of you could recommend anything?! He seems to be ok and doesn't seem bothered that i keep wiping his mouth and bathing his nose (a sore also from the pollen) but i keep worrying about him! Am i being overprotective?????
