Mother cat suddenly being agressive to kittens and people

Now I'm going to be honest and say Lana isn't the nicest cat, but recently shes got really aggressive (not to the point of any injuries) to her 4 month old kittens and people. Shes hissing and growling, which she never did before. But its not always its only half the time. Why is this? Is she ill, injured or is it a phase? Shes eating fine, wanting to go out at night a lot more. (We normally keep the cats in at night) Any ideas or solutions would be great.

Now is about the time when the kittens start developing hormones and mom wants them to leave. They need to be fixed as well and everyone should settle.

We are getting them fixed soon, but there is 5 of them and we are moving soon. So a lot of work haha
