the front and back door areas are covered in prickly plastic runner and aluminum foil. I have new litter boxes in the litter box room (4 for two cats, only one is the pee-problem-puss) AND I got a dandy new litter-mate to hold the used litter till it goes out, feliway used liberally, always clean with enzymes or vinegar. Caught him yesterday peeing at the BASEMENT back door (kitty litter level). Pulled up the carpet tiles, saturated the concrete and (newish) metal covered door with enzyme cleaner and yet again this AM heard his collar bell in the basement and CAUGHT him peeing in the same spot. Vetted sound, no UTI, neutered 7yo male, indoor only. Having a 'cat whisperer' come out Tuesday. This is the last straw. I will NOT give my problem to someone else, plus he is a VERY shy and schizzy.

I will euthanise him first.

Why NOW! All is quiet, just husband and I, no changes to the house, euthanized an old cat 2 yrs ago, no newcomers, he gets along with the other guy (11yo neutered male) Only normal play fights.

Anyone tried the Dr. Elsy products?

I have the same problem..we adopted a 6 yo female 2years ago. I am now sure this is why they gave her up. I am conmpletely lost at what to do with her. she is my life and love her with all my heart, but she has completely ruined our home. I have done a ton of research and have been working with my vet on different medications. Everything that i have tried, from feliway to dr. elsy products, different litter, more then one box, hooded or not, nothing makes a difference. We are living with tin foil all over the house, she will then just pee in front of it. she is rewarded the few  and far between times she does go in the box. In fact, everything that i have found that says to do, and will deter her away, seems to attract her more (like feliway she will go and pee where i spray it) or put her off more(like the Dr. Elsy cat attract for the litter).

I need help badly, i can not afford a behavioral specialist to come out, especially when it is not a guaruntee. I can not imagine ever putting her down b/c of peeing issues, she is soo sweet and loving and i will never give her to someone else. she is ours but she has really ruined our house. I cant even have rugs anywhere or accidentally drop anything on the floor cause she will pee on it.

If anybody knows anything that i may be missing please let me know. i am soo desperate.

She is on buspar right now, it is the only drug that we have left!

I had a similar problem with my girl for a long time, though she was that way pretty much from the day I brought her home. (I'm sure that's why she ended up in the shelter, too.) She would pee mostly on carpet, any carpet, no matter how thoroughly enzymed and cleaned, and she would poop EVERYWHERE. I tried Cat Attract, Feliway, different boxes, you name it.

Finally I gave up and started taking her outside, supervised, multiple times a day. It was like a huge change came over her. She immediately took to doing her business outside, scratching in the dirt and grass. So I bought a harness and leash for her and now we have daily "walks." She gets her flea drops every month so there's no bug issues, and she's learned to hold it until I get home and let her out. It's like we have an understanding now.

Taking a cat outside multiple times a day is more labor-intensive and time-consuming, yes, especially if you live in a place without the best yard access, but it might be worth a try. However, if your cat(s) are suddenly doing this after years of using the box, I can't think why they would have changed or if being outside would help, but I don't think it could hurt to give it a whirl, either.

:sending vibes!:
