I used to work at a body shop/collision center and would see many people come in with them because of leaks or other problems. They are okay if you don't plan on keeping the car forever, or are going to have a nice extended warranty.
Just be prepared that they break and are very expensive to fix. I remember people coming in all the time, even with newer cars that had no warranty on them that would cost well over $500 to get them fixed. One time a guy with a newer Monte Carlo came in with one and the wiring went bad and he had no extended warranty - just to replace it - over $2,000
They are nice, yes, but I don't think I'd want to put up with the hassle of them
Then moonrooves would be moonsunruoofOriginally Posted by katiemae1277
that's what I thought the diff was too, a moonroof slides all the way back and a sunroof just "pops" open?
Nope you weren't too late to give my your opinon. I still don't have the car. My uncle wanted me to look at the color car I wanted in the day light, so I have to call him today and see what he can do about getting one for me. Of coarse the color I want is discontinued so I really hope I can still get it. My uncle was convinced I wouldn't want it, but I love it. It's purple during the day & like a wine color at night. So I'll be calling him in a couple hours to see if he can locate one, with a moon roof. So I guess I did sort of make the decision, but now I'm trying to decide how much I want the moon roof. I'm deciding if it is worth giving up the color I want. The next color I would go for would actually be a grey, but I just can't make up my mind which is more important the color or the moon roof. I'm sort of leaning towards the color. I've lived without a moon roof this long, I certainly won't die without one.Originally Posted by Trouts mom
Shoot, I think I am too late...but I vote no for moon roofI don't think they are cool enough to warrant extra money spent.
That's what my uncle said about after market moon roofs. He said that they are very likely to leak, but that a lot of dealerships like to put them in to help sell the cars. He's calling around for me right now. There is a purple one that has a moon roof, and a spoiler. It's more expensive so I don't know, but I'm in one of those moods that it may just be worth the extra $ to have the car look even cooler with the spoiler. Well I await his call to find out when I'm going to get this car.Originally Posted by zao_cat
I had a moon roof and it was great until it started raining. The car I got had sat on the car lot for a while so they decided to up-grade it and put in a moon roof. Now everytime it rains I get soaked because the water pours down onto my lap. And my butt if wet from the seat being soaked.I know it was because it wasn't put in by the factory but it has ruined my love to moon roofs. I wouldn't get one personally.
I am supper anxious. When I first started looking I didn't care how long it would take to get it, but now I just want my new car.Originally Posted by babyharley
I bet your so anxious to get your car! Whatever you decide, I hope you enjoy it!
I don't think a spoiler is necessarily worth it either. The last 2 cars we had with spoilers, the spoiler looked like it had a pox on it when the car was older. The paint wears differently or something than on the rest of the car. Our old Saturn (a '93) and our Pontiac (a '99) had spoilers with paint chipping off.Originally Posted by Rang_27
