What color is your computer desk?
Our computer desk is a dark cherry color (particle board; it's showing wear..). Most of my wood furniture in the house and even the kid's bedrooms falls in that color category. But my kitchen has light maple cabinets and my "office" is in the open kitchen/dining area. I also have a similar finish on the china cabinet and table and chairs. (The china cabinet and table/chairs were a matched set.) I believe the name of the finish had cinnamon in it; but it's not too different from the desk's cherry finish.
I got thinking about this the other night when my cousin sent me a picture of the crib set up in their baby's nursery. I "oohed" and "aahhed" but she said her husband doesn't like that the crib doesn't match the floor.
Their house came with nice light wood floors and they have a medium walnut stain on the crib. The walls are a medium, soothing shade of green. I love the walnut against both; it compliments instead of blending in.
So I told her to tell her husband I have a degree in these things; just trust me.
She said she pointed out to him that none of their other furniture matches the floors either.
But now I'm thinking; if we ever get the wood floors I want installed, I need to be sure I like how it looks against the furniture AND the cabinets!
