Hi there, My cat gave birth to six beautiful kittens on 8/4/15. The kittens are now 10 days old. Yesterday "Esther" (mom cat) moved them under the bed. They were in a box in the corner of the room with a soft blanket. I figured she did feel they were safe out in the open so we moved them into the closet. But this morning she moved them back under the bed! Esther and her kittens have a room all to themselves with no dogs, very low traffic, and low noise. The only time I go in there is to give Esther her calcium twice a day which the vet prescribed since there are so many kittens. I also weigh the kittens every day to monitor their growth and make sure they are getting enough milk. Does she not feel safe because I handle the kittens once a day? She has not seemed to mind me handling them but I could be wrong. Any ideas or suggestions? Under the bed is not a good place for the kittens. There is no bedding down there as it is a wood floor. Last litter she had in April she was content in the closet. Thanks in advance.
P.S long story short right after Esther weaned her first litter we went on vacation and did not have time to spay her. When we got back we found out she was pregnant again. This time we are getting her spayed after she weans this litter. Esther is also a young cat herself.
