Hi, my kitties are 4 days old and yesterday the mom was acting very weak and had a horrible smell coming from her uterus. I took her to the vet and he said he thought she had an infection and injected some fluids and put her on antibiotics and said she should get better in the next two days and if not then she would need to be spayed. I started asking him about the kittens and if I should start supplementing them. He was very vague and really wouldn't even answer hardly any quesitons I had - I was very disappointed in the visit. He said that I should feed the kittens as if she was not producing any milk according to the directions on the can. The thing is, is that the kitties are nursing on her constantly and seem to be gaining weight. I don't want to overfeed them - I have been tube feeding them. I don't want to overfeed them and then her milk stop. It was a very confusing visit and I am going on vacation all next week, so I will probably have to bring the whole bunch with me!! If they have an infection do they lose their milk?? A friend of mine said her mommie cat did fine with nursing and an infection. I am thinking about just supplementing them every 6-8 hours. Does this sound right?? Thanks
