OMG, that is so cool! Congratulations! Your husband is a sweetie! I know you're going to enjoy your mixer so much. I love my Empire Red pro mixer; it works very well for bread.
What color???

Our Wal Mart has the 4 1/2 qt one now on sale for $199Still debating here. My husband is telling me to go for it and get the KitchenAid, but I hate to spend that kind of money.
That's great, Wendy! Congratulations!Well, I finally got a KitchenAid too! My DH totally surprised me for Christmas with a KitchenAid Pro mixer. We had been looking at all the sales and talking about getting one for ages. I was so surprised though!
It's awesome and I love it! So far I made the best ever pavlova for New Years, and DH made some cookies. I found it didn't splatter at all, unlike my old Sunbeam one which is one of the reasons I never wanted to bother using it. This one is great, and so powerful too. It did a fantastic job of whipping up the meringue mixture. Next I think I'll try making bread in it.

Yes, a cover is a good idea. For years I didn't have one and there would be times I would go weeks between uses and I would have to dust it off and wash out the bowl before starting. My brother's mixer came with a black quilted cover and I liked it, so I bought one for mine. The colour is "Kaki" but it's more cream than green.
Next I need to find a cover! Or see if my BFF can make me one in a fabric of my choice! It's so pretty but it will get dusty. What a dilemma!
Do you think a cover would be simple enough to sew? My BFF is awesome; but if its simple I could probably do it.

My mother and aunt have the classic red I think. Very very nice!!KitchenAids really do rock! I understand now why everyone loves them (and my DH thinks it was worth it too). Mine is the classic red, I just had to have that colour.Love all the fancy colours they come in these days though.
That's pretty cool!Oh, lucky you!
I live in a very small house and don't have room for a stand mixer. I got a hand/stand mixer for Christmas, which is in between a hand mixer and a stand mixer. Has a smaller footprint than a stand mixer:
