Methigel vet version question

I got methigel from my vet, my cat has been finicky with food. How does methigel work to prevent uti? I forgot to ask him if it helps with bladder infections.

As I understand it methigel is supposed to help maintain normal urine pH which may reduce the occurrence of crystal formation. Crystals can sometimes irritate the bladder lining causing inflammation/infection.

Ah okay. Yeah they put her on it since I told them she's the most finicky eater. Haven't had a uti episode since March. Last year it was happening every 3 months
