Last night we flew an old 80's band called Prism to Winnipeg to catch a flight out west, I've also met one of the band members from an old 50's/60's band called the Searchers that used to sing "love potion #9"...and that's about it as far as brushes with celebrities!

Ever met anyone famous???

Well, my dad is a dentist in the loop...some of his patients through the years have included Gary Sinese (Forrest Gump, Steppenwolf Theatre Company), Barrack Obama (the most awesome senator ever, D-IL), Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins, Zwan), and some of the guys from Wilco. I'm going to meet Ben Folds and Rufus Wainwright next week (both are indy music artists).

Other than that, I've only caught glimpses of famous people...I've wandered through a few filmings in my area, including a couple episodes of ER, Spider Man 2 and Barber Shop. Sometimes you'll see famous people shopping and walking around Streeterville and the Gold Coast. I have yet to run into Oprah

I used to go to church with Toby Keith & family in Norman, Ok.

When I was younger I met(with parents) a few bluegrass musicians at Opryland in Tennessee. Couldnt tell you their names, havent ever been a bluegrass fan. But I have pictures somewhere.

I sat next to Dustin Hoffman in a movie theater back in the 70s, met Arlo Guthrie in a Philly bar (also in the 70s), had a backstage pass at a German concert and met Aerosmith (80s), literally bumped into Brian May (of Queen) in Stuttgart train station when he and his s.o. were rushing to catch a train (I thought I was imagining things, until a few of my students told me he'd given a solo concert in Stuttgart the night before), and... Sylvester Stallone was in the same parish, while married to his first wife (I went to school with her younger sister). Everybody was amazed when he hit it big with the first "Rocky" film.

Me, not in person. But, my best friend's family is oddly prone to it.

Her parents were in Vegas and went their own ways inside the casino. Her dad noticed some hubub over to one side & went to see what was going on (filming a movie). He started chatting with what he called "the nicest pretty lady" and chatted for about 30 minutes. When he met back up with his wife, he told her what a nice conversation he had with this "lady", and when his wife asked him to point her out, he pointed to SHARON STONE. He had no idea!

Her brother worked at an Olive Garden in Tennessee, and waited on Robin Williams... and when he was younger he worked in fast food and Steve Martin came through the drive thru. They live in any old 'regular' place, certainly not where you'd expect to see celebrities, but there they were.

My friend herself worked the help line at a software company and took a call from Barry Manilow. She broke form and said "Is this THE Barry Manilow?", to which he answered "yes, are you a fan?"... she said, "my MOM LOVES you!" LOL (not true, but what're you going to say to his face? We think you're hokey?). She talked to several famous people (well known software company) but I can't remember who the others were.

Oh yeah, my husband stood next to Kristi Yamaguchi at the luggage carousel in the airport. Said she was a snob to people around her

Wait, what am I thinking... yes I have!

I got an autograph from Marina Sirtis, she played Deanna Troi on Star Trek, The Next Generation. Yes, I actually went to a Trekkie convention once

And I went to an autograph signing for Kenny Chesney, I took a friend's guitar for him to sign (giving up the only autograph I was allowed).

Do autograph signings count?

When I waited tables in Mammoth Lakes, I served quite a few celebrities, but, unfortunately (sometimes), I am not very good at recognizing them. My faves were Jeremy McGrath, the world class moto-crosser & Howie Long, the football player who now makes Radio Shack commercials. Arnold Schwartznegger, Wm. Shatner, & Cindy Crawford were a real pleasure to wait on, as was Eva Gabor. I also served Jerry Mathers (the Beaver on Leave It To Beaver)- talk about a fun, friendly person! I mostly noticed if someone was a pleasure to get to know, celeb or not. I had a few that were real JERKS! I even had one weather-caster from Los Angeles tell me I was culturally illiterate for not recognizing him (in Mammoth, the TV stations broadcast out of San Francisco, Sacramento, Reno & Denver)! Later, in 1992, I had the satisfaction of watching him place dead last in the celeb-portion of the Long Beach Grand Prix!! hehehee.....

I've met all of the members of Kiss, several times. I've met all of the members of the rock group Great White, and all of the members os Poison, as well. I've met actress Stockard Channing, Mary Tyler Moore, Valerie Harper, the cast of the old TV show WKRP in Cincinnati, the guy who played Klinger on Mash, Betty White, Mariah Cary, Chaka Kahn, and many more, that I just can't remember at this time. At my job, I've talked on the telephone to Faye Dunnaway (not a nice person), Dick Clark, (another not nice person), Stefanie Powers (Very nice person), Steven Spielberg, Barbra Striesand, and many more as well.

Hmm, I've had a couple of brief encounters with celebs over the years - Chris Martin, Ben Folds, Gates McFadden, Supergrass and John de Lancie. They were all really nice people -

Totally! (I think!)

I went out with Anthony Anderson once sightseeing, dated (sort of) Matthew Good of the Matthew Good Band. Met the guy off Party of Five (not the really famous one but the best friend of Charlie) when I was in LA. Also met "Snake" off Degrassi HIgh when I was in LA! LOL.
Saw Sarah McLauchlan at a restaurant, saw Bif Naked crossing the street (but those are just sightings...)
Hmm....all I can think of right now!

I met Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys in the VIP section (my friend and I snuck up there hehe) of the 2002 Super Vee Boat Races in Daytona Beach. He was really nice and even put suntan lotion on my arm. I managed to get a couple of pics with him and an autograph as well.

I've also met all of the members of 98*. My friend had won backstage passes to a concert of theirs so it was a much quicker encounter than with Nick. We talked to them for about a minute and got autographs and a picture, then had to go back to our seats.

Other than that I've seen Leonardo DiCaprio from about 10 feet away and listened to him speak about something and have also seen Meg Ryan (but further away, probably about 20-30 ft away) and also listened to her speak. Didn't actually meet either of them though.

That's about it.

I have met people I think of as famuis I guess - medical researchers and politicians, lol I've met every Canadian Prime Minister since Pierre Trudeau(I attended a wedding at 24 Sussex when Trudeau was PM) and I have met Hillary Clinton in Halifax. I also met George Bush Sr. when he was in NB and Norman Schwartzkauf (sp?) who was fishing on the river near my woodlot. I've really met too many politicians to name - knew many of them before they became famous if indeed that is the term. My ex is a good friend of Bernard Sanders, Ind (US) from Vermont. I have met many artists and when our hospital has our telethon, I have met many singers - Natalie MacMaster, Rankin Family, Joan Baez, Emmylou Harris, Carly Simon. At a dinner I was at last yr, I was seated at the same table as Robert Kennedy Jr. Ohhhh - and I met Princess Diana when she visited the hospital (and Prince Charles but I was more interested in Diana) and I have met the Queen as well at a dinner in Toronto (invited by Brian Mulroney).

I have also treated the children of famous people but it would be extremely unprofessional to say who!!

And it occurs to me that while I do not recognize some of the names listed here as famous, some of he names I have listed will also be not known. Such is the global village- everyone has their 15 minutes, lol

Has anyone ever seen that movie, "The Hills Have Eyes"?
I met the bald guy, Michael Berryman at a Carl's Jr. in Benicia, CA.,during a lunch break with a coworker. I'd know his face anywhere! He turned out to be a really nice guy, too. We talked to him for a few minutes out in the parking lot.
He's the only person I can think of..

I put an Unclaimed Property claim through for Nick Carter. An employee beneath me didn't recognize the name and originally sent his claim back because it was missing a copy of his ID. We could've made an exception had he known (not too many celebs happy to give out copies of their driver's license I'd guess), but he sent it in anyway
I have to check the guy's work who did it, and was a little taken aback when it came across my desk.

And Leo... **sigh**. My little heart throb from way back. I've never met him but chatted to him in his official chat room years ago when he still made "personal appearances" there. His mom and friends, too. He's growing ever so much better with age
