This is in my cat food and I heard it is used in what they use for euthanizing animals and is not fit for human consumption and can cause health problems. What do you know about it? menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of vitamin K activity)
I prefer to see "chicken liver", "beef liver", etc...over mystery items, IMO.Originally Posted by wmarcello
It seems like there are other good sources of Vitamin K as well though...
From the aforementioned link:
"Fish meals, liver and green plant supplements (e.g. alfalfa, kelp and other seaweed, nettle leaf, blue-green algae, spirulina) are rich sources of natural vitamin K."
It wasn't because of this particular reason, but this in general is why I don't mind feeding my cats food that contain meat by-products once in awhile. I know they get a decent dose of extra nutrients from organ meats like liver a few times a week.
Me too. I know I mentioned that I don't mind seeing some "meat by-products" on some of the cats' foods, but more specifically I meant I don't mind seeing ingredients like "chicken by-products", "turkey by-products", etc. Mystery animal is exactly that.Originally Posted by beandip

It's partially because of things like this that I prefer to feed a variety of brands and flavors/meats...with greatly varied ingredients I hopefully don't have to lose sleep at night over too much alfafa, too much of this, not enough of that. But I'm talking about canned food...which is a touchy subject these days.
You do know what a by product can be ???Originally Posted by wmarcello
