Hi from Halifax, Nova Scotia, and here's my best little buddy Sweetpea. She was a stray who came up to a friends' home who I was staying with me while she went on holiday but since she was going to be doing so much traveling in the future she asked me if I wanted to keep her.... by then I had fallen in love with Sweetpea so of course I said YES. And she had already been spayed and was up to date with her shots, as an added bonus for me.
Before she came along I had just barely come out of a bad state of depression with anxiety problems that I've been dealing with for more than 15 years, since Junior High. Antidepressants had helped me with the absolute worst but I was still just really unmotivated. I had a cat growing up who I loved dearly and missed like crazy when I went to college. Now that I finally lived in a pet-free apartment and have enough money to be able to afford health care for a cat.
We've lived together for 2 months and now there is no sleeping away the day (she wouldn't let me do that), the dishes are done every night, I finally have a clean apartment and she makes me laugh so much. I come home feeling anxious or like I want to ruminate over some crappy thing, but instead I play with her and that all melts away. The anxious thoughts I used to get at night don't have a chance to take over when she comes up on the bed for a cuddle.
It sounds crazy but I really love this cat so much it hurts sometimes haha. She's around 2-4 years old so I'm doing everything I can to help her have a long and happy life.
