So Cat had her kittens early August. She was spayed yesterday and the vet noticed a couple mammary glands were hard. I had been watching for redness but didn’t notice any. They gave her an antibiotic shot just in case and to hopefully help if there’s a problem. The kittens were all taken Monday, except the one I am keeping. Is there anything I can do, anything to watch for besides redness and irritation, maybe to get to the issue before it presents it’s self?

Is the kitten you are keeping still nursing from her?

You can apply warm, damp compresses to her mammaries to help with discomfort, but her milk will dry up unless the kitten is nursing, which is fine. It would still dry up except for the mammary she nurses from. You would notice if her mammaries get really red, hard, or inflamed. Just keep an eye out.
