It's been quite a few months since I've been on the forum!
My dog was diagnosed with MCT. He had a mass on his head that didn't show any cancer cells after fine needle aspiration, but since it kept growing I had it removed and sent for testing. It came back as a mast cell tumor, grade 2, low grade, dirty margins (they couldn't do a very large margin because it was too close to his eye to be able to stitch it closed without pulling his eyelid too tight). He has a lump on his back that used to be soft like a lipoma but has since hardened and like the last tumor cancer cells weren't found during FNA, but that doesn't mean anything. There's also a lump in his armpit that decided to disappear during the vet visit to escape FNA but has since reappeared.
Because grade 2 is unpredictable and he has low grade, the vet doesn't recommend chemo, radiation, or any medication. She recommended I just watch his lumps for change in texture, size, and new lump development. He's on benadryl to prevent histamine release from the tumors and Prilosec to prevent ulcers. I also ordered him Zesty Paws Turmeric Curcumin Bites to help reduce inflammation, Canine Matrix Healthy Pet to boost his immune system, and Dr. Harvey's E-mune boost because I bought it a while ago but never got around to using it. I'm also considering VetCBD. I know it's quite a few supplements, but I'll try just about anything to slow the cancer. My poor boy is only 7!
Does anyone have any other recommendations for supplements? Have any of you fought doggy MCT?
