I found out that the cat I posted about earlier in the week is, technically abandoned or stray.
HOWEVER, my neighbors leave the garage open for it, give it food but let it roam outside all day long. AND they have not given it any veterinary care. But they are claiming it as theirs.
This is so irresponsible. The cat is probably sick to begin with and it will need to be spayed. A cold garage isn't an ideal shelter either. This cat come to my house and does everything but say, "I want to come inside." I do not feel that this is a good situation and I do not think it's fair for them to claim ownership just for leaving a door open. They found the cat and have no idea where she came from. In my opinion, it should be taken to a vet and placed in foster care or a no-kill shelter, so that it can get the kind of home it deserves. However, some people are telling me that I shouldn't do anything because these people say it's theirs.
Please advise!
