My cat has had a bump on her nose for about 6 weeks. It moves from the forehead to mid-upper nose. It changes in size. Today it’s really big and I can tell it’s interfering with her breathing. She had several strokes about 2-1/2 years ago. We can’t do any testing on her that would require sedation for fear she won’t wake up. She has recurring sinus infections. Right now she is getting antibiotics, an antihistamine eye drop and an anti-inflammatory.

It may be pockets of infection, but why does it change positions? Are you talking over weeks/months it moves, or quickly, like in a parasite? The vet may have some kind of med to get rid of parasites too. that is really puzzling. Did you take photos that show it changing with the dates, i would show that to the vet.

Is she congested? If so, does the lump 'move' in accordance to how much congestion there is? It could be swelling associated with mucus build-up, which I suppose could change the positioning, and possibly cause some breathing impediment. If she does experience congestion, it might help some to run hot water in a bathroom with the door closed to build up steam and then take her in there and sit with her for 5 or so minutes. If it helps, no reason you couldn't do that 2-3 times a day.

As said above, provide pics/timelines to the vet and ask what they think. Otherwise, the meds she is on right now may be the only applicable treatment. I presume she can't have Prednisolone to help reduce the inflammation?

She has had the bump for about 2 months. A couple of weeks ago there was a lot of pressure and a tiny hole opened up on her nose. Only blood came out. I could tell she felt better to not have all the pressure. The bump did come back and the hole opened up again. Now it is healing but I still see a little bump. I had her tested for cryptococcus and the test came back negative. I took her to another vet this week and the vet didn’t know what to think about the bump. She is taking a different antibiotic now and is taking Cerenia nose drops. She seems a bit better. I wish I had answers.

She was on a low dose of prednisolone for about 2 years after her strokes. Had to stop giving it to her when her blood sugar was increasing (I guess this can happen after they take it long-term).
She has tested positive for mycoplasmosis so maybe all of these symptoms are that, but the bump on the nose isn’t a common symptom.

I had a cat with cryptococcus and this does not look like it, although I am glad that you had an actual test done to rule it out. Not trying to spend your money, but can you get her to a specialist like an internist? Can your vet communicate with a specialist or teaching hospital on your behalf?

The only internist in my area is affiliated with an emergency pet hospital that I do not trust. I will check on a teaching hospital though - thank you for the suggestion.
