I recently had to cut rabbit foods out of our rotation because one of my cats developed an allergy (vomiting when he ate it). That was one of their favorite foods, so it was a shame to take it off the menu. This also puts our rotation back at just birds and fish. I'd love to add something else in there for them.
Currently I feed kibble for one meal each day and canned or raw for the other meal. The kibble is Instinct, alternating between the duck/turkey and the chicken formulas. The canned is various brands, everything from Friskies and Fancy Feast to Weruva and Wild Calling, in mostly poultry flavors with the occasional fish-based. The raw is usually the Primal frozen turkey nuggets (they go NUTS for it!), sometimes a freeze-dried food or raw chicken wings/necks.
Proteins we’ve tried and vomited: beef, venison, lamb, pheasant, rabbit
Proteins we’ve tried with no issues: chicken, duck, turkey, tuna, salmon, probably some other kinds of fish, pork
I prefer not to feed foods with tons of veggies, particularly peas and lentils (inflating the protein content without actually benefitting my cats), but I’m open to all suggestions. In particular, I’m looking to add a new kibble to their rotation because the canned/raw changes daily but the kibble is the same for about a month.
Are there any pork kibbles on the market? Hounds and Gatos doesn’t seem to be sold anywhere near me anymore, so they haven’t had pork in their rotation for a while, except for a sample of the Primal freeze-dried. Any other good proteins I should try?
