Just finished this costume for my daughter, its debut was last night at her school band's Halloween Concert.
I've been wanting to make this Link costume for about 3 years now; finally talked her into it, lol!

Check back over the next few days for more pics of the completed costume, hopefully outside shots if the weather cooperates. Thanks for looking!

undershirt is finished; tunic in progress

added "chain mail" skirt (to keep the costume from being too hot)

chain mail added to front and sleeves

cut fringe off of cheap cloth boots (easy to work with)

building up top of boots to add length and a cuff

finished boots with cuffs and shin bracers

fingerless gloves in progress (took 4 tries!)

gloves with bracer

hat is simple extended santa hat

added front of wig (had to trim it down a lot later on); comb sewn inside to attach to hair

hat with awesome ears!

Power AND Safety! Reflective Tri-Force treat bag.

tunic with belt and sword strap

tunic with back pouches

unfinished costume try-on

I leather-covered a cheap plastic scabbard & later the sword handle.

Painted with acrylics - acrylics look really nice on leather, especially metallic paints.
You can get cheap leather skirts for costumes at used clothing stores and take them apart to reuse.

Link's Master Sword!

it fits in the sword straps!

after the concert
Our 12-year-old designed and made the Midna Imp doll herself!

I've been trying to teach myself to sew, little by little... and I am always in awe of homemade sewing projects. Nice!!!

Thanks guys!
I love making costumes and had a lot of fun with this one.

I took one quick pic this morning - Link doesn't look like he wants to go to school! Our daughter is going to take the wig/hat off and let her hair down for the school dance today - she said it would be weird dancing with a boy as Link...

Great job! Just posted in another post how I always made my kids' costumes. It is definitely a labor of love.
