A week and a half ago my cat started limping in the rear. He's a 3 year old Bombay.
We took him to the vet and described what was going on. The vet took an x-ray and a sample of blood. The x-ray came back clean of any bone problems, and the blood sample didn't show anything unhealthy. The doctor's conclusion was that Kovu had been in a fight with another cat and had possibly been scratched or bit on one of his back hips. This is entirely possible, since we have a young female cat that came to live with us about 5 months ago that he doesn't always get along with. So, as a precaution, the doctor prescribed an antibiotic.
The antibiotic seems as though it has helped him recover from the limp. However now that we have used the entire antibiotic, he is limping worse than ever. He has been hiding off and on, and does not seem to want to get up to eat, drink, or use the box. I brought him some water, and he definitely wanted to drink.
My family has him back at the vet right now, but I thought it would be a good idea to do some of my own research. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance!
