Spaz has been with us for nearly 11 years. She lost sight in her left eye about 5 years ago after a run in with a snake and recently lost vision in her left due to a lesion. When I say recently I mean like in the last 4-5 days. I took her to the vet a couple weeks ago about the lesion but he said it was old and she would most likely loose some vision (she mostly lived outdoors on our farm at the time) so we made sure to keep her in.
She has been an indoor outdoor cat her whole life but now (since the total loss of her vision) she is just not acting right. I realize that since the vision loss came on rather suddenly that it will take time to get used to but she was doing well yesterday, climbing up on the bed and such, but today I had to get her out from under the bed and bring her into the living room to feed her and she just seems so sad.
I called the vet and made an appointment for in the morning because the lesion that was there now looks odd. The center is red and the rest of her eye is just milky. She is still using her litter box....at least to tinkle so I know she is at least getting some fluid but I am concerned that the trauma of not only loosing her sight but having to live indoors all the time may just be too much for her.
Any suggestions?
