I bought a new pair of shoes just yesterday.
I have never ever seen this happen before, but Lily is licking them all over and rubbing up against them and even went to sleep on them!
They're leather, I'm wondering if they have some sort of taste to them?!

I put them in the closet because I'm paranoid

Is there any harm to her licking them??

Probably not, but it depends on what kind of finish, or polish is on them.

New leather shoes usually have a pretty strong smell, I would also be concerned about the finish.

I'd discourage the licking unless you know there are no dyes/chemicals on the leather. But licking leads to biting/chewing on the leather. So maybe just spray them with some Bitter Apple spray to stop it completely.

We did that with our shoes for the dog and cats - they don't touch any of the shoes now - even tho the BA is not on there

I'd check where the shoes came from. If they're leather, it's probably China. If so, I'd be VERY afraid of what they might use in the finish on them.

Thanks everyone! Good thing I was paranoid and put them away, they say they're made in Australia but I wouldn't want my little Lily licking chemical filled shoe polish!

They're nice shoes though
