I just got a letter today from a law firm. It is because I haven't paid my $1000 bill with my old employer. I was let go two months ago.
I told them I would start paying my bill as soon as I got a job! grrrrrrr.
I am so angry right now!!!

Oh no, thats horrible!

Have you kept in touch with your old employer to tell them that you have not yet found a new job, and that you would be start payment on your $1000 bill as soon as you found something?

Thats definately something you don't want to get in the mail...I'm sorry!!
Hugs to you

Unfortunately, my hubby and I have bad credit (he had filed bankrupt before I met him and lost 2 jobs this year so things were really bad)... so I know the feeling... Lots of people use law firms as collection companies though, so hopefully it won't go on your credit as an actual lawsuit, if you make arrangements, definately something to ask about...Hope you get it all worked out!

Why do you owe your old employer $1000?

In any case, it's EXTREMELY tacky of them to have a law firm send you a bill only two months after they laid you off. In fact, it seems downright evil.

Oh yeah, and I edited it to say that it seemed pretty evil, i.e., heartless and cruel. Well, if there is any consolation here it is that you don't work with such mean people anymore.

Goodness, couldn't they just write it off considering they laid you off and that you were an employee? What little little people. That's just awful -- I'm so sorry.

Anyway what did they say? Are they willing to work out some sort of a payment plan??

There are always some in the crowd - be glad you are out of there.

I told them I could pay $30 a month. They said that is fine, but because the payments are so small, they may go ahead with the lawsuit.

That is so horrible, I mean-at least you are paying them! How can they still go ahead with the lawsuit? At least you are giving them some sort of payment! What kind of payment a month are they expecting?-did they say?
