I remember watching the Challenger. I was in kindergarten... I remember the explosion and one of the main things I remember was my teacher cryingOriginally Posted by ButterflyDream
Well I'm up north. So I'm only stuck watching it on TV. And I don't know if I watched Challenger or not when I was in school, if I did I was too young to remember.
But it was pretty amazing to watch.
The Columbia disaster actually happened in 2003. This is the second shuttle launch since. When the Discovery launched into space in 2005 they performed test heat shield repairs while on a space walk. I remember watching it on tv and found it amazing that they were capable of actually doing repairs while in spaceOriginally Posted by ButterflyDream
Well I know that I've seen the footage from it and then the disaster from last year.....and all these foam issues this current launch, it was like sitting on one's toes even watching it from here.
But that disaster last year didn't occur till re-entry. So I guess it's still a wait and see (but I also think that's why they are taking alot of pictures of the shuttle and stuff as part of this particular mission).
