Sometimes it's good to end the "game" with the pointer on a toy that he can actually catch and feel.

Mine also love the laser pointer. It gets Viola my rather chubby siamese moving, Natasha tries to bite the red dot. so funny. I also try to end the play session with a real toy like a catnip mouse.
