Read the ingredients on the Pro Plan and Science Diet. Always vet recommended, but very bad for animals. They have a bunch of fillers and animal by products. Stick with something like Blue Buffalo or Wellness. They make Wheat and Gluten free foods, have less fillers, and no animal by products. Just a suggestion. :) we give our animals bee pollen as needed and L-Lysine everyday. works great!.

For cats, sure, Propylene Glycol is not recommended because cats have a unique sensitivity to Propylene Glycol. It may be used in antifreeze, but it's also used in most cosmetics people buy, almost all of the shampoos and conditioners sold at the store, cupcake mixes, antibiotics, and many many other things.
