Knitters For Critters, based in Glen Ellyn, (IL) is in desperate need of yarn to reach its goal of delivering 1,000 blankets to abandoned pets this year.
The group is asking residents who have a partial skein left over from a project to donate the yarn so it can be put to good use.
Knitters for Critters is an all-volunteer program that creates hand-made (knit or crocheted) blankets to comfort animals living in animal shelters. While these pets await adoption, the blankets provide a comfortable bed year-round, group officials said. When they are adopted, their blanket goes with them, providing something familiar as they adjust to their new family.
