Hello! My husband and I have two kittens and we think they may have been taken from their momma too early when we got them.  Unfortunately, they don't really know how to clean themselves back "there". Is there anything I can do to encourage them? I've heard of people putting melted butter back there but that seems crazy to me... What's everyone's input?

Kittens don't clean themselves like adults do. You can try sanitary trim to keep them clean.

How old are the kittens? Are they longhair or shorthair? If they're too young you may have to clean their butts for them for a while.

Do you have any adults cats in your household? I have one cat who always "adopts" any foster kittens and teaches them the way their mother would. Of course, that only works with certain cats. I have another who hides from the kittens. :lol3:

I tried cleaning them back there with baby wipes, but they hate it... And unfortunately we don't have any adult cats around to do it for them....
