Hi all,
I am new to the forum, I basically joined because I am so upset, I bought this beautiful devon at the beginning of the year & we (my family & I) have just totally fallen in love with her. Months after buying her we found out she had a heart murmur, I took her to the vet as she had cat flu, she had cat flu when I bought her but the breeder said it would clear up.
At that first vet visit I went to they found the murmur and they said it was congenital & they told me she would prob not live to be an adult cat as when her body grew her heart might not be strong enough to keep her alive.(as it is a bad murmur)
It is her 1st birthday in about two weeks and she'll be an adult and today she collapsed on the floor after heaving, vomiting and coughing. She has been at the vets all day and we are monitoring her tonight.
I have children and If we lose her so quickly they are going to be devestated!
When the murmur was first found, we had already taken her in as apart of her family and I wasn't going to give her back to the breeder, I just figured she was meant to be with us, but that doesn't mean it doesn't still make me upset that the breeder didn't sell me a healthy cat.
If I lose her I've decided I will contact the breeder, We paid a lot of money for her and this doesn't seem right.
What would you do?
