Hello all! Last September we took in a pregnant cat and it was such a great experience to foater that we decided to do it again. Found an ad on kijiji for a pregnant homeless cat (tgough I doubt this story somewhat; the cat responds to the name of Patches, is exrltremely affectionate, not skittish at all, and all of the ocs on kijiji showed the cat inside the house!) But regardless, we are fostering this cat and very excited! We have affectionately nicknamed her Moo Moo because ahe resembles a cow, udder and all! So, the thing is, we don't have a due date! The lady who was feeding her says she belives she conceivedthe last few weeks of May and thinks she will be due the beginning of August. BUT, she says shr started to show the first week of June. I have been able to clearly see the kittens moving for about ten days (we got her two weeks ago today) She is bigger than our last pregnant cat ever was. She is eating and acting normally. There has been a bit of brown (discharge?) On her rear end since we acquired her. She is free from worms and fleas from what I can tell. Yesterday the kittens had very clearly moved down, I used to see them moving up closer to her spine and around the middle of her body; last night her belly felt more solid and they were visibly kicking closer to her rear end and in the middle of her sides. Her rear nipples clearly have milk underneatj then, they are quite saggy and full. I haven't a thermometer (onoy an ear one for people!) So I haven't been able to check her temperature. I have been feeding her Nutrience kitten food since the day we got her. I have a large dog house set up for her with towels in a quiet room vut she seems to prefer under the boys bunk bed so I've laid a towel under there too! I am so anxious! And excited! She is white with black patches; ee have no idea of the father so it will be very intereating to see how they turn out! I guess my question is, it can't possibly be another 3-4 weeks as the lady suggested, based on the above, can it? The waiting game kills me!
Sidenote: we will be having her spayed along with all of the kittens, before they go to their new homes (low cost clinic, thank goodness!) I wasn't planning on keeping any of them but this mama sure is growing on me, so quiet and loving, such a sweet cat! Thanks for reading my rambling post, just want to share the excitement with someone! Emma
Have to figure out how to upload a few pics!
