I brought my new 8 week old kitten (Clover) home last night, and thought I'd try introducing her to my 13 year old dog (Sheeba) today.. Long story short it went terribly - Sheeba was not maternal as planned. I don't know what to do, I can't give either up but how am I supposed to have them both here when Sheeba is always going to want to eat Clover??? She's safe for the next few weeks at least while I wait to get all of her vaccinations sorted but after that what can I do??? I'm terrified for my kitten and heartbroken for my dog.

Here is an article on introducing cats and dogs: http://www.thecatsite.com/a/introducing-cats-to-dogs.  It is important to carefully introduce animals to one another and to be patient as it can be a process lasting weeks or even months.  It really depends on the animals involved.  Your situation is not hopeless; I would just step back and keep them separated and follow the advice in the article.
