We have a 6 month old kitten who is having problems. She is vomiting up all of her food and also vomits a yellow liquid (the vet referred to it as bile). I took her into the vet yesterday and changed her diet to chicken and rice (to rule out allergy to food). She ate it last night, but would not eat it this morning. She also vomited it up in the middle of the night. She then vomited twice since then (once when I was scheduling an appointment for her at the vet). She has been vomiting since Friday, mainly after eating (both dry food and wet food). She is an indoor cat. We have another cat who appears to be fine and eats the same food, uses the same litter, runs around the condo in the same way.
Today, the vet took X-rays and found nothing. The vet thinks she may have swallowed something that didn't show up on the x-ray. Exploratory surgery will be very expensive, not to mention the Berian procedure the vet wants to do to see if there is a blockage in the intestine.
My carpet is old and can take all the vomit, but I feel terrible for the cat. Any suggestions?
Also, we recently switched the type of food from fish to chicken (Fancy Feast for both types). Could it still be a food allergy? Even this many days later?
