Hi,
I'm new to your CateSite, but enjoying it a lot !! I'm a mom of two boys (11 & 13 ), a Mini Schnuazer and of course our new Kitten !
A week a go we went to a local breeder of Siamese Cats and picked up our new family member a male chocalate point kitten, we've named him Shu Linn.
Within a couple of days he had slowed and finally stopped eating and was barely drinking. We kept our eye on him and after 4 days we took him to our Vet. After his exam the vet advised us to continue to offer food including chicken, kitten food - dry and canned and fresh water.
When he hadn't improved within two days it was back to the vets. After an exam and some tests, I was given A/D Diet and KRM and a lesson in feeding a kitten via syringe !
I have been feeding him about every two hours, for the past 12 hours and he seems to "perking up". We have another vet check this morning to see how he's progressing.
We think this "illness" is a reaction to stress of moving into a new, busy household. I've been keeping the breeder up to date as she is very concerned for the kittens health.
Has anyone had a similar thing happen ? Any suggestions for getting the kitten eating again after we've got him over the immediate crisis ? I've had kittens/cats/animals all my life and I"ve never had this happen.
Bonnie
