My five month old Persian kitten Peewee was neutered last Wednesday, April 9th. One of his testicles didn't drop so they had to do a more invasive surgery and cut open his belly to find it.
I was given three days worth of pain medication to give him and they made him pretty delirious, he inappropriately urinated twice and would just flop around and generally looked like he felt super lousy.
He wasn't eating the third day after surgery so I took him back to the vet and they gave him a hydrating IV and forced some wet food down his throat, I had to force him to drink back at home as well by squirting water into his mouth with his (used and needle-less) medicine syringe. The day after that he started eating and drinking normally again, and seemed more bright-eyed and like he felt a lot better.
Since then though, I've noticed all he wants to do is sleep and has little interest in roaming around or playing with toys. I wake up to him crying for me in the night, and he cries for me sometimes throughout the day so I go and grab him and hold him for a bit.
I was just wondering if this is normal behaviour, and if he'll go back to being energetic and playful soon? His incision seems fine, no discharge and he hasn't picked at it (I took the cone off a couple days ago) and it's starting to harden up.
