Kitten Scared Of Dog

Hi all

My 9 month old kitten Oscar and my dog Barney were getting along fine. They touched noses and Barney got close and was sniffing him. All of a sudden Oscar hides or runs upstairs when Barney is around.

Any tips on how to handle it. I am not getting rid of either pet. If need be I can keep them apart but I want them to get along. I was so happy at first them getting along.

Hi. Hopefully the article Furballsmom provided you with will shed some light on what might have gone wrong and how to fix it.

How long have you had Oscar? How long had they been getting along before Oscar freaked out? It would seem to me that something happened that triggered the new-found fear in Oscar. If it was just some fluke event, Oscar should get over it. If it is an ongoing behavior by Barney, you'll have to figure out what it is so you can address that behavior specifically. Good Luck!!!
