So I started this thread http://www.thecatsite.com/t/246465/i-nearly-stepped-on-her  about a kitten that I am currently fostering.  She is 6wks old and doesn't seem to know about litterbox behavior.  Will she pick this up on her own if she is caged with a litterbox or do I have to encourage her?  Right now she pees on the towel that I provide for her to sleep on.

Take some of her poop and place it in the litter box.  Every 20-30 mins place her in the box and move her little paws in scratching motions.  She should catch on quickly.

Most kittens catch on if the litterbox has low enough sides and if they can find it.  In a cage is fine; a small room works, too.
