I hope Karma can come home with you soon, but I think it's definitely better for her to stay there until they can figure out how serious her infection is.
The vet said there was liquid leaking from the edema/wound. I saw it for myself the other day; it looks like water droplets/sweat seeping through the skin since there is no broken skin at this point. The vet also said the necrotic skin will probably start falling off (bleh). She's on antibiotics and pain meds right now, so hopefully they help. The good thing is that she's maintained her appetite through every thing. She will have to stay at the vet for a bit longer to gauge the seriousness of her wound. Thank you for the well wishes!
Did they say whether they can remove the dead tissue? Would they have to put her under to do that? Or could they do it with a local anesthetic? Maybe they're waiting for it to clear with antibiotics. I'm not sure what the protocol is on that. My girl had a significant amount of dead tissue. I think it happened quickly too.
Hope Karma gets better soon!
