Well hey guys,
Ares, as of last night, started having diarrhea. It's not explosive, just very very runny and a little slimy. At first I thought it was from the new kitten we had brought home, but they had only been in contact for 12 hours, so i'm not sure if that enough time for him to catch something and have this mess. That, and the kitten had normal hard poops. (new kitten is back at shelter and not in the house due to very watery eyes. Ares has not shown any signs of watery eyes.)
He's also been stepping in his own mess with the same back foot the last two times it happened. Only once has he rubbed his but on the floor( left a nice poo mark on my rug.) I panicked a little and cleaned him up so I could check his glands, and they seemed fine - so I don't think it's that. He was also wormed and re-tested a few weeks ago with everything negative. (kitten we brought home was also negative.)
Right now, I think this may be due to him taking a few bites of my marinated steak when I was busy in the kitchen - but I didn't think it would last in his system this long. I've been giving him chicken only baby food, some raw goats milk to get more fluids in him (not much of a water drinker) and plain chicken and rice to settle his stomach.
What are some things I should look out for? How long can diarrhea last before I really have to start getting worried and call the vet? He's only had it two times that I've seen so far, but as he's never had it before, it's getting me all nervous.
