HELP!
I adopted 9 month old Gus three weeks ago. He had explosive diarrhea when I brought him home, but the shelter manager said it was from a chewable vitamin he had been given for runny eyes. She said they had stopped the vitamin and that his stools would be back to normal soon.
Well, after 5 days at home and so much diarrhea all over the place, I couldn't take it anymore. Kitty was obviously ill, with red, swollen eyes (he is all white), a horribly inflamed bottom, and lethargy. He was eating just fine (Hills Science dry food for digestion). I took him to the vet, where he stayed for about 17 days and was given a full two weeks of Metronidazole. The receptionist called me yesterday saying his stools were normal and solid. They sent us home with Hills Science wet food. Well, he's been home for just a few hours and the diarrhea is back. Not explosive, but his stools are runny. Should I expect this? They said he was just suffering from "digestive upset". I have a feeling I adopted an unwell kitten and I am heartbroken. He is the sweetest, most playful little guy.
