They called, no evidence of a kidney problem or diabetes so probably just an infection. They want to keep her over night and see if she keeps some food down and maybe get a urine sample. This is going to be a very long night.

I may be jumping the gun cause there is no diagnosis but this type of thing hits a very personal spot

I have to say that i am not a vet so this is what is considered a laymans opinion.
Unless there are ketones, there is NO reason whatsoever for a cat with diabetes to stay at a vet's office especially for a few days.
In MY experience with the many people I have worked with,as well as a very personal experience, vets that keep cats with diabetes in the office think they can regulate a cat in the vet's office.
THAT IS VERY UNLIKELY Cats can take months + to get regulated
Glucose numbers at the office can be off well more then 100 points. I have seen too many cats come away with their owners given dangerous dosing instructions.
Things have to be done systematically at home BY YOU with the vet's assistence.
Just a short story of my experience
When my cat was diagnosed with diabetes and ketones, she went to the hospital for the ketones and then went to my vet's office to be regulated.
I was given instructions to give 3 units 2x a day. I got warned (by a layman)
it was too much and that I should give 1 unit 2x a day. I compromised and gave 2 units 2x a day
3 days later i was driving 90 miles an hour to the animal hospial past midnight
all the while trying to resuscitate her. She made it fortunately
In my laymans opinion regardless of the insulin, a dose should start at 1 unit 2x a day.

Well, there's no evidence of diabetes, so luckily I don't have to worry about that. (but I'll remember that advice for the future)

Did they check for a bladder infection?
Cats drink a lot of water and pee a lot with them.
My cat have had them on and off for over 2 years.

They're going to if they get a urine sample.
