Hi all,
My 6 yo female has just started sneezing more frequently the last few days. She is acting fine. Same energy level, eating like a horse, peeing and pooping and all that. She doesn't have a fever and her eyes and nose aren't runny like a typical uri. I am a vet tech and all, but moved to a new state and currently am not working. I have treated her before at my work for an Uri, but she was much sicker, congested runny eyes and nose and a fever. She looked awful then. This is different, a dry sneeze, but much more frequent than the norm. She doesn't go outside, so I know there is no foreign body, so I am at a loss. I have clavamox that I grabbed for my emergency first aid kit before I left work, but I don't want to give it unless neccessary. I would take her to a vet to confirm if she needed it and then give it rather than buy it from the vet. Also she has had a bad reaction to baytril in the past so we won't go there.
I do have pet insurance but I don't think that a uri will even hit the deductible so I probably won't do a claim unless it went higher. I am just debating whether to wait it out or taker her in. The other thing that I worry about is that I will be taking her with me at Christmas about an hour away to my parents for a few days. She is familiar with their house and all because we stayed there for a few months while getting situated up here, but still the car ride and new house will be stress if she isn't healthy.
Just looking for opinions, also, my other cat isn't showing any signs, but doesn't mean that he won't. The other thing that I was thinking is that we moved into a pet friendly apartment complex and I see that a lot of owners have cats and I know URI's can travel on the wind. She is vaccinated but still...
Suggestions will be greatly appreciated,
Becky and Kattie
