I had heard so many good things about it that I decided that it would be the best way to go.
To recap my situation for those who don't remember it, Father bought a house and turned it into a duplex; I lived upstairs and he lived down. The idea was that when he died or moved permanently into a nursing/rest home, I would be able to rent out the lower half for a little extra income.
While Father was alive, Zane--who was really his cat; I referred to him as GSC, for Glen's S____ Cat (depending on my mood/his behavior S could mean sweet, spoiled, silly, special, or stupid.)--had his litter box in the basement. However, if I am going to rent out the lower floor I can't have him running up and down to the basement all the time; he'll have to be confined to my apartment. There really isn't any isolated part of the apartment where I could put a traditional litter box. (The bathroom is very narrow; there really is no place for one there.) Hence, I put out a call on the board for recommendations, and the Litter Robot got the most positive reviews.
The only problem I anticipate is that Zane is a big kitty--16 lbs.--and is at the upper end of the LR's capacity, but we'll see.
I'll keep you all posted about what develops with Zane the Insane, Cat of Small Brain.
