So I've started asking for some advice....
But let me tell you a bit about my cats.
I have one 8 month old that would rather play than be pet (still likes petting though). She loves to run around, hates being picked up, and is really only vocal for food or getting you to look her way. She gets into absolutely everything, is always curious, and is constantly sticking her head in the window. She likes to follow us around and be next to us no matter what we are doing. She really cute at night, my husband goes to bed first and she won't go to bed until I do. She will sleep until he wakes up, bother me a bit when he leaves, and then go back to sleep and get back up when I do.
The other older cat is a whiner. She whines in the middle of the night to wake us up. We started free feeding her and that seemed to stop her for a while. But when they both started having diarrhea (due to different reasons for each of them) it was the chicken and rice diet.
I'm now searching for a new food that both kitties will be able to eat.
Older Cat-On Friksies Wet Food (no fish, she hates that) and Purina One UTI Dry Food
Younger Cat-On Nutro Kitten Dry Food, we tried switching her to Blue Buffalo Grain Free Wilderness Indoor Cat Dry Food (but this may have been one of the causes of her diarrhea)
My older cat prefers the sofa to the bed, but if the younger cat is not sitting on the bed she'll take it. She only comes by me when she wants to be pet and she will whine at me and expect if to follow and pet her (even in the middle of the night). She's always been a loud cat who likes to sit by people, watch things, and mostly do her own thing. Her favorite thing is the world is food and their are exactly 2 toys that she likes (she refuses to play with anything else). Both of which are blue mouses, one on a string and one without that has catnip. Obviously, she has a strong preference for blue. She is also overweight. We have tried different ways of feeding her to get her to try to lose the weight to no avail. So we have pretty much given up on that.
The two cats are very different from each other, but they both like to sit on my lap and demand attention in one way or the other.
