And she is adorable!
One of the women who works in the building had a stray that gave birth to four kittens. A little black girl got up inside her car this morning at her house and ended up on the parking lot here at work; it was at least a 20-minute drive, so she was a very lucky little girl (two of her sisters did the same thing yesterday morning and they were not quite so lucky...poor babies. We found them in the parking lot, but it was too late.). The woman and I were able to catch the kitten and we brought her inside. Another woman said she would take her, but she didn't want her in her office all day because of people going in and out for appointments. So my co-worker took JoJo. He went the the store for dry kitten food (and some litter), but she wanted nothing to do with it....I don't know if she knew how to eat dry as she's really small (maybe about six weeks or so). And while he was gone, I sat in his office with JoJo in my arms.....she was sound asleep!
She wanted nothing to do with the dry food, so I went to the store for some chicken baby food and some canned cat food. Came back, mixed a little of each together, heated it a bit, and got down on the floor with little JoJo (she told me that's what her name was....honest!). She didn't want the food, so I smeared it on her muzzle. Once she started licking....well!.....that was that. She came right over and starting chowing down, purring like crazy.
I waited awhile after she was done, then I put her in the litter box. We dug around a bit, but she wasn't interested. But then later on, she did pee in the box. She was really meowing, but I think that was because everything was so new for her and also because she was just flat-out hungry. After a bit of a bath, she's now sleeping on my co-worker's sweatshirt, all nestled in.
JoJo is a little black baby with white paws, a white line down the center of her belly and the cutest little white goatee. She's just adorable. If I didn't already have seven kibblekrunchers, I'd have taken her in a heartbeat. The woman who is taking her has an adult cat, but her daughter would love to have a kitten. I'm sure she'll change the kitten's name, but I'm telling you, her name is JoJo! She told me!
I was texting with Rick this morning and all he kept saying was "NO!"
But at least JoJo will have a good home....she's really a little sweetie. I could fall in love with her fast.
