The City of Rancho Cucamonga in Southern California, which historically has contracted for animal control services, is taking over the running of the city shelter on or about January 2006. As part of the process, No Kill Solutions has been retained to develop a No Kill feasibility plan for the shelter and assist in the transition. At this time, the City is also seeking an Animal Services Director.
The new director will assist in the transition effort and be involved in hiring his or her staff. This is a very unique opportunity to lead the No Kill effort in a community that takes in approximately 5,000 dogs and cats per year. There will be an all new staff, new protocols and procedures, and an opportunity to create Californiaâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s first No Kill community.
In addition to recommending policies, procedures, and assisting in the transition, No Kill Solutions will be available for support and guidance after the transition is complete.
I encourage all individuals, who meet the Cityâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s prerequisites as identified in the enclosed job description, to apply. While the total requirement of 8 years experience is significant, it need not be direct shelter experience. Individuals with experience in a related field such as veterinary medicine, public health or public services are welcome and encouraged.
Rancho Cucamonga is in Southern California, with easy access to Lake Arrowhead, Big Bear, beaches, the San Bernardino National Forest, Los Angeles and Palm Springs. The application deadline is August 19.
