I'm currently in the middle of a move as is apparently a good portion of my neighborhood. Sunday I heard a cat calling outside that sounded like mine and went to see if my indoor only cat had managed to escape while the door was open. No, not my Foxxi. But this cat is a black version of her. Both are female tortoise shell but Foxxi is tan. Another difference, Foxxi is fixed. The black tort who I've taken in and called Crystal, is quite obviously pregnant. I have never had a pregnant cat before. They all get fixed at 4-5 months.
Crystal, according to a few neighbors, appeared a couple weeks ago when the family across the street moved out, and is believed to be abandoned. She is sweet, loving, and gets along with my cats and dogs very well. I left her outside for the first few days, teaching her how to climb in and out through a missing window on my enclosed porch. I've been providing her food, water, treats, and affection. Apparently I am now her pet human.
So... like I said I'm moving. And I'm taking Crystal with me. There is a local organization here that will spay or neuter cats, 4 months and older, for $10. I've lready been in contact and they will do Crystal and her entire litter for me. I have a loving, responsible home for one kitten already, My boyfriend has been looking for a cat for quite some time and just fell in love with her, so when the time comes he will be taking one home. I am fully prepared, and capable of, keeping any who do not find a home. (I love my electric litter box).
I had her to the vet for a microchip, and one wasn't found. Crystal got a free check up because apparently there aren't too many who will take in an expectant stray. It was decided that she's healthy and somewhere around a year in age. No complications are expected.
Is there anything I should know? Besides a box, and a quiet area, and make her comfortable? I've never been through this.
Thank you for any advice.
